Irish singer/songwriter Andrew Hozier-Byrne, better known simply as Hozier, really took me by surprise. It did seem like Hozier came from nowhere, beguiling us with his gospel inspired epic 'Take Me to Church'. His darkly beautiful EP was released earlier this year, showing his dejection infused tracks in all their glory. After listening to the four track masterpiece, it was clear that Hozier was no 'One hit wonder'. His vocal work is astounding, syncing together perfectly with his instrumentals. This man can do no wrong.
Not only do is album tracks showcase his fatigued, careworn voice to their best, his live performances are also some of his most bona fide. His live Mahogany Session version of Cherry Wine is simply stunning, but Hozier isn't just an artist made for his own songs either, his ability to perform other songs of different genres (Eg: His R1 Live lounge AM performance) really proves his diversity as an artist. His Irish charm and knack for a good chorus is what makes him a part of the 'big league'.

I'll finish a track but in the end, where I want to be... is at the beginning.
Hozier, you're great.
